About Us
What's the story?
Simple Safety Rescue Force started as a social media awareness campaign called #buckledownonthebuckleup. This campaign was started in response to the amount of accidents involving unrestrained occupants that occurred in our county in just one month. Many of these accidents involved unrestrained children that were seriously injured. As First Responders we wanted to do something to show people that this is a problem.
Thus #buckledownonthebuckleup was born. First, we urged other local first responders to start making videos of themselves buckling up or talking about seat belt safety. We started to gain attention. WKZO, Fox 17, and WWMT decided to pick up our story and help us spread the word. Second, we decided to make a compilation video of all the first responders we could gather buckling their seatbelts. Third, we challenged everyone to make videos buckling their seatbelts.
We continued to gain support and raise awareness. The State of Michigan Health and Human Services EMS & Trauma division contacted us to offer support as did Safe Kids Kalamazoo. They helped get some of our team certified as car seat safety technicians. With all of this support and success, we decided to form a non-profit organization.
Thus Simple Safety Rescue Force was born. Our organization will focus on simple safety measures everyone can take to help prevent catastrophic outcomes. We will work together as Police, Fire, and EMS to educate and empower you to keep safety simple.
